Animating a morphing shape with Duik ?

Post by Bolos » Tue Jun 26, 2018 2:04 pm

Hello there,

I spent a few hours trying to create a blowing wind effect in the hair of characters while morphing from one to another.

Here's what I have so far :

I made the wind effect on the second guy with keyframed bones on a single shape (with the puppet tool).

But as soon as I try to change the path of the shape (layer), it breaks apart.

I was thinking about the rot morph but I don't know if it works with more than two parts (to make the "snake" effect on the hair) and it seems to be a pretty tedious option.

So basically, do you guys have any idea of how I could achieve that or if it is even possible with DUIK ?

Thanks a lot :)

Just found out that making a first frame the size of start and end shapes combined (the biggest shape) solved the tearing when using the puppet tool. Saves my life.

One question though, is there any way to edit a puppet and bones without remaking it from scratch each time I need to tweak shapes ?

Because that's the way I work right now but I guess there might be some better workflow.

Thanks !
